Many children and adults enjoy being in environments with water. This is especially true if they have grown up swimming in pools or participating in water activities. One way to continue to enjoy water activities is to go to a splash pad. You still get to enjoy an aquatic environment while also enjoying something new. All of the different attractions can make it a memorable experience. Whether you have been to a splash pad or not, have you ever wondered how much water it takes for them to operate?

How Much?

On average, a splash pad can use 5000 to 26,000 gallons of water on a daily basis. Typically, the tanks underground that hold all of the water can hold about 150 gallons. The water gets reused as it flows back into the drains, into the underground tanks. The size of the water tank can vary, however, the size of it influences how much water can be consumed.

Is The Water Filtered?

Many splash pads will have a system in place that filters the water as it flows back into the drain. This is to keep all the water clean of bacteria and keep guests safe. Other splash pads will clean the water using chlorine. This is still an effective way to filter the water and clean it of any bacteria.

Is It Fresh Water?

It generally is hard for splash pads to constantly rely on fresh water. This is why many will use a recirculation system. For bigger splash pads, there may not be a big enough source of fresh water to fill up the splash pad. For this reason, it is much easier to have a recirculation system than to rely on fresh water constantly filling the splash pad.
